The US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter says the Islamic State attacks on Paris have "galvanized" the French and led to more transatlantic co-operation in the intelligence sphere.
He was speaking shortly after President Francois Hollande announced that he'll travel to Washington for talks with President Obama next week, before sitting down with the Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss great international co-operation in the battle against the extremists.
Mr. Carter told the Wall Street Journal that he wasn't surprised by the organization's ability to strike at the heart of the French capital.
IN: "Obviously I'm sad….."
