Downing of Russian jet complicates Hollande's mission

The presidents of France and the United States have met to discuss next steps in the struggle against the so-called Islamic State.

French leader Francois Hollande is traveling the world in an effort to strengthen the international effort to destroy ISIS, following the deadly attack on Paris.

Philippe Le Corre (pron: fill-EEP lug-core) - a Former adviser to the French defense minister - says the downing of a Russian warplane by Turkish jets complicates President Hollande's mission.

President Hollande is due to meet Germany's chancellor on Wednesday, before heading to Moscow.

Philippe Le Corre of the Brookings Institution in Washington says the meeting with the Russian president may be uncomfortable, because of Turkey's shooting down of a Russian jet.

But he says the French goal remains the same.
