Belgian authorities plead for social media silence as raids continue

A major security operation is taking place in the Belgian capital Brussels, after the country's Prime Minister said there was a "serious and imminent" threat of an attack on the city.


He's extended a terror alert, and guests in several hotels in the center of Brussels have been warned to remain inside.


Several streets were blocked off as a series of raids were reported to have begun.


Our reporter Jack Parrock in Brussels says the authorities are pleading for silence on social media over the raids' progress.
