United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon has visited Jerusalem for talks with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a time of increased violence in the country.
Eight Israelis and more than 40 Palestinians have been killed in recent weeks following an upsurge in random attacks on Israelis. Tensions have risen amid rumours that Israel plans to relax long standing rulues to strengthen Jewish rights on Jerusalem's al Aqsa Mosque, which is also revered by Jews.
Israeli Prime Minister used the visit of Ban Ki-moon to say there had been no rules changes regarding the revered mosque.
