Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed in an interview to the American CBS TV channel that Moscow will continue to support Damascus, saying the Russian military in Syria will not participate in ground operations "right now". He urged international allies to coordinate efforts in helping Bashar al Assad, who the West wants to step down, to fight the Islamic State terrorist organisation in the Middle East.
