UN Security Council hears from gay Syrian refugee in first-ever meeting on LGBT rights

Accounts of a gay Syrian refugee's escape from the Islamic State group, and the continued persecution of the gay community in Syria, held the Security Council's attention Monday.

In the first-ever meeting on gay rights convened by the council, Syrian refugee Subhi Nahas told the story of his struggle to escape from I-S, to call attention to the plight of so many caught in the conflict.
