Dozens of New Yorkers gathered in Union Square on Thursday night for a vigil and protest following the shootings at the AME Mother Emanuel Church in Charleston.
Many said they were there to show their solidarity with the victims' families, and that although they're far away, they feel such an incident could just have easily happened in their city.
