Authorities in the U.S state of South Carolina have released the names of the victims who were shot dead during an attack on a historic African-American church in Charleston.
The 21 year old suspect Dylann Roof has been aprehended and taken into custody after allegedly killing 9 people at the Emanuel AME Church. Officials say they are looking for evidence to charge him with commiting a hate crime.
Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten, released the names of the 9 victims who died late Wednesday. She said that eight of the 9 victims had died at the crime scene, only one of them made it to hospital. Three men and six women lost their lives, ranging in age from 26 to 87.
She said that following due process, autopsies will now be conducted.
