Bomb threat evacuates US Congress building, White House

A pair of bomb threats prompted the evacuation of a U.S. Senate office building and then a short while later, the White House press room while the daily briefing was underway.

Both locations were checked and nothing suspicious found.

Once the all-cleared was announced, White House spokesman Josh Earnest confirmed that the U.S. Secret Service had received a bomb threat against the press briefing room.

The U.S. Secret Service brought in bomb sniffer dogs to search the briefing room.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest was not able to confirm if offices nearby - such as the Oval offive or the White House itself - were evacuated.
