US Senate steps toward granting fast-track trade promotion authority

Approval to grant U.S. President Barack Obama 'fast-track" trade promotion authority has taken a step forward following a 62-38 vote in the U.S. Senate to end debate on the legislation.

However, the major trade bills - T-TIP, TPP and AGOA - for Europe, Asia and Africa respectively, could still be derailed by legislation on other key, related matters, including currency practices and investor protectors.
