U.S. President Barack Obama has paid tribute to the 131 US police officers who lost their lives in 2014, at a memorial service at the US Capitol on Friday.
The president's comments follow months of tension between law enforcement and local communities across the U.S. over the treatment of African Americans at the hands of police.
