US says Chinese dredging operation "destabilizes" South China Sea

The United States is accusing China of destabilizing the disputes over territory in the South China Sea, after revelations that the country is engaged in a sizable land reclamation project hundreds of miles from the Chinese mainland.


Satellite imagery analyzed by a Washington-based think tank shows several Chinese vessels supporting a reclamation project on a reef about 150 miles from the Philippines.
