UKIP, LIB DEMS PUBLISH MANIFESTOS

In Britain, the Liberal Democrats and the UK Independence Party are launching their manifestos ahead of May 7th's General Election.

The Lib Dems are promising to spend more on education than any other party.

UKIP pledge a boost in defence spending and to employ thousands of former military veterans in security and policing posts.

Both parties are potential coalition partners for Labour or the Conservatives should they fail to secure a parliamentary majority next month.

Evan Harris, Liberal Democrat Federal Policy Committee, says he's aware the party was criticised in 2010 for allowing university tuition fees to be hiked when it became part of the coalition government.
