EU's Foreign Policy Chief Mogherini calls for European solidarity on migrant crisis

The EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has called for Europe to share responsibility in dealing with the migrant crisis.

The high representative made the remark ahead of a crisis meeting with the EU's foreign and interior ministers in Luxembourg discussing the rising death toll of migrants crossing the mediterranean on overcrowded boats.

Hundreds of migrants are feared dead after a ship carrying more than 700 people capsized near Libya's coast, adding to a total of around 1600 lives lost so far this year.

Mrs. Mogherini said it is the European Union's moral responsibility to prevent further tragedy.
