Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has defended his plan to offer Britons a referendum on European Union membership by 2017, if the Conservative party win the upcoming general election.
The plan was attacked by former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who said the prospect of the referendum would cause chaos for British businesses and sideline the UK in Europe.
The former Labour leader accused David Cameron of trading national interest for political advantage as the Conservatives try to win back voters who have defected to the anti-Europe UKIP party.
However David Cameron insisted the British people should have a say on EU membership.
