INTRO: Kenyan authorities have confirmed that at least 70 students were killed by Islamic extremists in an attack on a university in the town of Garissa in north eastern Kenya. The extremist group Al-Shabaab has accepted responsibility for the attack. Almost 500 students were evacuated from the campus and Kenya's military has surrounded the area.
