The junior coalition partners in Britain, the Liberal Democrats, are presenting an alternative budget as battle lines are drawn ahead of May's General Election.
On Wednesday Conservative finance minister George Osborne revealed his tax and spending plans - insisting that Britain is 'walking tall again' and growing faster than thought.
The opposition Labour Party insists the coalition has left the British people with lower living standards.
The election campaign will be officially in full swing on March 30th when Parliament is dissolved.
And Jonathan Portes, Director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research, says that's why the coalition parties are beginning to drift apart.
