In Iraq, some 28 thousand people have reportedly been displaced as a military operation to retake the city of Tikrit from the so-called Islamic State group goes into its fourth day.
In response, the United Nations is kicking off a multi-agency humanitarian effort to help civilians fleeing to the nearby city of Samarra.
