INTRO: Nigeria's military says it has destroyed Boko Haram's headquarters in the north east of the country. The statement comes as almost 70 million people get ready to vote in this weekend's presidential elections in Nigeria. The polls were earlier postponed by 6 weeks to allow troops from Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon to drive the Islamic extremists from north eastern Nigeria. The two main contenders in the elections, current president Goodluck Jonathan and former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, have both appealed for peace and tolerance during and after the elections.
