British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has confirmed that at least 3 Britons were on the Germanwings flight that crashed in the French Alps on Tuesday, killing all 150 people on board.
British authorities have expressed condolences and say they are on standby to offer any assistance to France with the difficult recovery operation.
A Manchester resident and her baby son are known to have been on the flight. Marina Bandres Lopez Belio had been returning to her native Spain to attend a funeral.
49 victims were from Spain and 72 from Germany, including sixteen German teenagers and two teachers who had been on a language exchange programme.
Philip Hammond says its possible that more British citizens were on the doomed flight.
