Two New York police officers "assassinated"

New York's Police Commissioner says two officers shot dead while they
were sitting in their patrol car were "assassinated".

Police are investigating whether the gunman, who later killed himself,
carried out the attacks in revenge for the recent deaths of unarmed
black civilians by white officers.

roundly condemned.
