US drops aid to Kobani as fight continues

The U.S. military dropped supplies to the Kurds battling the Islamic State militants in Kobani.

The U.S. and its allies have conducted 135 airstrikes around the town on the Syrian-Turkish border in the past two weeks, as Kurdish fighters have tried to stop the jihadis.

U.S. State Department deputy spokesperson Marie Harf confirmed, the Obama administration felt the need for help was urgent.

Neighboring Turkey has long resisted its ally, America's call to help the Kurds defending Kobani.

Now, the Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement indicating a change in that policy, a decision welcomed by the Obama administration
