Canada's Prime Minister says that the shooting of a solider near the national parliament in Ottawa is a reminder that the country is "not immune to terrorist attacks".
The gunman, who was later shot dead by police, has been identified by Canadian security sources as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, a recent convert to Islam.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued this statement.
