OBAMA TO HOLD EBOLA VIDEO CONFERENCE, TEXAS HEALTHCARE WORKER TESTS POSITIVE

A second health care worker in Texas has tested positive for Ebola, according to officials.

This as US President Barack Obama prepares to hold a video conference on tackling Ebola later (Wednesday) with the leaders of Britain, France, Germany and Italy.

It follows warnings from the World Health Organization there could be 10 000 new cases a week within two months if international efforts to contain the outbreak are not stepped up.

4447 people are now thought to have died, the majority in West Africa.

But the WHO does say the rate of new infections in some areas has slowed.

Professor Melissa Leach, from the Institute of Development Studies, says international action is better late than never.
