President Obama says "the world is united" in the fight against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.
He was speaking at a meeting of defense chiefs in Washington DC that included the Chief of the New Zealand Defence Force, Lieutenant General Tim Keating.
Prime Minister John Key says the it was a "regular" meeting, and New Zealand's attendance was not intended to convey any change in the country's involvement in the battle against Islamic State militants.
