The underwater discovery of one of the ill-fated ships from the 1845 Franklin Expedition in the cold wastes of Canada's Arctic north is a success for Canada's strategy to assert its sovereignty over the Northwest Passage, which has recently become navigable to commercial shipping thanks to the effects of climate change.
