The Obama administration is considering airstrikes against Islamic state positions in Syria without the approval of the Assad regime or the U.S. Congress.
Earlier, key U.S. military officials have said, that to defeat the Islamic state, the faction that resides on the Syrian side of the crumbling border with Iraq must be addressed.
