French PM resigns amid economy row

The French Prime Minister Manuel Valls has submitted the resignation of the government following a row over the country's economy.

 

The political crisis was triggered by the economy minister calling for an end to austerity policies imposed by Germany.

 

French President Francois Hollande's handling of the economy has been severely criticized by many of his top ministers over the weekend.

 

A new government is expected to be formed by Tuesday.
