Voting begins in Kashmir's first regional elections in a decade

Intro:

Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir is holding what is the first of three phases of polls.

Voters are queuing up to elect members to the state's legislature in what is the first local election in the region in a decade.

It's also the first election since India's only muslim majority province was stripped of its autonomy and special rights in 2019 - in a move the Indian government said was necessary to curb unrest there.

State of Palestine presents it resolution before UN General Assembly

US Fed meets with rate cut expected

Sean 'Diddy' Combs charged with sex trafficking in NYC

Sean Combs, known as P Diddy, has been charged with sex trafficking in New York City.


The music mogul was arrested on Monday evening local time.


Combs is accused of creating and running a 'criminal enterprise' through his business empire, spanning decades, according to prosecutors.


His lawyers say he will plead not guilty, telling reporters he's innocent of these charges.

'Dangerous times' in United States after second Trump assassination attempt

Investigations are underway into an apparent assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the second in as many months. 


A man's been charged on firearm crimes — the Secret Service agents spotted his rifle sticking through the fence of Trump's golf course on Sunday. The former US President was unharmed, and the suspect did not fire at him nor his protection team.

Central Europe braces for more flooding as rivers keep rising

Junior Doctors In England Vote To Accept Pay Deal

Junior doctors in England have voted to accept a pay rise of 22% over two years.


The decision brings long running industrial action to an end, where many junior doctors went on strike 11 times over an 18 month period.


But the British Medical Association has warned that it expects pay rises 'each and every year' to come.


Dr Rob Laurenson is the co-chair of the BMA's junior doctors committee. He has said that further strikes are possible, and long term government commitments to improve pay are needed to keep people in the profession.
