UK officials will remain on alert for further disorder, despite Wednesday seeing counter-demonstrators outnumbering expected far right gatherings.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper's thanked the thousands of police officers on duty across parts of the UK.

Thousands of anti-racism demonstrators were on the streets of English towns and cities despite fears of dozens of flashpoint far right protests.

Former head of the National Counter Terrorism Security Office Chris Phillips believes the deterrent of custodial sentences is having an impact - but warns against complacency.

Bangladesh's interim governemnt to be sworn-in today

Muhamma Yunus, the Nobel winner, will take oath as the head of Bangladesh's interim government today.

This comes merely days after Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and flee the country.

Yunus, widely regarded as Hasina's rival, has appealed for calm as sporadic instances of violence continue to be reported from across Bangladesh.

Starliner astronauts may be stuck in space until 2025

Two NASA astronauts who piloted Boeing's Starliner spacecraft into

Tropical Storm Debby moves towards the Carolinas

Residents of South and North Carolina are bracing themselves for
another day of unrelenting rain.
