The sporting action at the Olympics gets under way in Paris on Wednesday/July 24, as the football and rugby sevens competitions begin.

The opening ceremony to open the Games officially will be held on Friday.

Plane crashes in Nepal on take-off

A plane carrying 19 people has crashed in Kathmandu, Nepal, according to local media.
