Iraq seeking U.S. coalition withdrawal by next year

According to the Reuters news agency Iraq is pushing for the U.S.
coalition to end its mission in the country by September 2025.

Iraqi officials are in Washington this week to discuss the security
situation and the threat currently posed by the Islamic State group.

Blinken to reassure Asian partners of US commitment

President Biden condemns fatal police shooting of Black woman

US authorities have released a video showing a white police officer fatally shooting a Black woman, in a case sparking outrage across the country.


The video includes body-cam footage from the sheriffs who responded to Sonya Massey's home in the US state of Illinois on July 6.


It has reignited national debate about police use of force and racial discrimination.

The head of the Secret Service admits teams failed to protect Trump, as investigations continue

Democrats rally around VP Harris

Democrats are rallying around US Vice President Kamala Harris as she
tries to secure the Democratic Party's nomination.

It comes after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid on Sunday.

On Monday Illinois Governor JB Pritzker endorsed Harris, as did
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.

And West Virginia senator Joe Manchin confirmed he is not planning to
re-register as a Democrat and challenge Harris.

That effectively clears the field of potential challengers.
