Nauru Cuts Diplomatic Ties with Taiwan

One of Taiwan's last diplomatic allies has cut ties with the island just days after its closely-watched presidential election.

A senior Taiwanese official said Beijing offered the Pacific Island nation of Nauru $100 million a year for it to sever links.

Trump projected to win Iowa Caucus

Japan, Aus continue steps towards military partnership

UN Secretary General condemns ‘collective punishment’ of Palestinians

Migrant family drown trying to reach Texas

US federal officials say Border Patrol officers were blocked from saving drowning migrants trying to reach the state of Texas.


On Saturday, the bodies of three migrants were found in the Rio Grande river by Mexican authorities.


This comes amid escalating tensions between Texas and the US government over immigration enforcement.

PM Says UK Will Not Hesitate To Act Against Houthis

The UK Prime Minister has defended his decision to carry out joint strikes alongside the US on Houthi Rebel targets in Yemen. 

Rishi Sunak reaffirmed that the UK would not hesitate to act against Houthi targets in response to almost 30 attacks on international shipping in the region, since November.

US ship hit by Houthi missile off coast of Yemen

A ballistic missile, fired by Houthi rebels, has hit a US-owned-and-operated cargo ship off the coast of Yemen. 


The incident follows the US military shooting down a separate anti-ship cruise missile targeting an American destroyer vessel operating in the Southern Red Sea over the weekend.


These retaliations are the first by the Iranian-backed militants since the United States and its allies began launching strikes on Yemen in response to dozens of Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the region.
