More Foreign Airlines Threaten to Leave Nigeria Over Trapped Funds

Foreign airlines operating in Nigeria are disappointed with the nation's government over its inability to offset their 800 million dollars trapped in the country.


The government last week disbursed 62 million dollars to the airlines as first installment to offset the money, an amount the airlines have described as insignificant.

Prime minister Modi to inaugurate country's longest sea bridge

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi is on Friday set to inaugurate India's longest sea bridge, connecting Mumbai with Navi Mumbai.

The 22km-long Atal Setu promises shorter travel times, which is expected to help boost economic activity.

Its launch comes as Mr Modi is expected to start his campaign for the general elections on Saturday.

US and Western allies launch attacks in Yemen

The United States, alongside coalition forces including the UK, have launched air strikes against Houthi-rebel targets in Yemen, marking a major development in a region engulfed by tensions since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.

Major boost for Bitcoin after SEC ETF approval

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, has approved the first-ever bitcoin exchange-traded funds to come out of the US, a watershed moment for the world's largest cryptocurrency.


The agency gave the green light to sponsors of 10 ETFs — including BlackRock, Invesco and Fidelity — that'll track bitcoin prices. 


Most of the products have already begun trading on Thursday.

US consumer prices rose in December

Tanzania ranked 2nd in tobacco production in Africa

Tanzania has been mentioned as the second-largest producer of Tobacco in Africa for the year 2022/2023.
