U.S.-China diplomacy continues as Wang meets Blinken


INTRO:

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Washington on Thursday in a flurry of diplomacy between the two nations.

The U.S. wants China to help make sure the Israel-Gaza conflict doesn't spill over into other countries; and Beijing has expressed a willingness to work together.

200 British Nationals Trapped in Gaza, UK Border Force Teams in Egypt to Help Evacuate Them

Roughly 200 British Nationals are known to be trapped in Gaza, currently under siege by Israel.  

The UK Prime Minister said that Border Force teams have been deployed to Egypt and are ready to help evacuate British citizens, when a pause in the fighting allows. 


The Government had previously confirmed that at least 12 British Nationals were killed in Hamas' attack on Israel and 5 remain missing and thought to be among the hostages held in Gaza.

WOMAN CONVICTED FOR ASSISTING FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION IN UK FIRST

A woman in England has been found guilty of handing over a 3-year-old girl for female genital mutilation while she was on a trip to Kenya.

Maine Governor: 18 killed, 13 injured in mass shooting

The Governor of the US state of Maine says a gunman killed 18 people
and injured another 13 in a rampage across several locations in the
city of Lewiston.

A manhunt is still underway to find Robert Card, who police describe
as a "person of interest".

Authorities have released pictures of him carrying an assault rifle,
entering a restaurant and bowling alley on Wednesday evening.

Manhunt underway after Maine mass shooting kills at least 16

Police in the US state of Maine are appealing for information after a mass shooting killed at least 16 people and injured many others.


A shooter opened fire in a bowling alley and restaurant in the city of Lewiston before fleeing.

Nigeria's Supreme Court Rules on Presidential Election Challenge

Nigeria's Supreme Court will today rule whether to uphold President Bola Tinubu's disputed election victory.


President Tinubu's two main contenders in the February 25th presidential election filed an appeal to the apex court challenging the decision of a lower court last month to uphold Tinubu's win.
