Ghana’s opposition leader, John Mahama wins presidential primaries


As Ghana prepares to hold its elections next year, the country's former leader John Mahama will be contesting for the presidency again.

It comes after he won the primaries to become the flag bearer of Ghana's largest opposition party.

Title 42 immigration restriction expires in US

An immigration restriction used to expel thousands of asylum seekers during the Covid-19 pandemic has come to an end in the United States.


Title 42 was brought in under former president Donald Trump to allow authorities to quickly turn away migrants attempting to enter the country's southern border.


In its place, the Biden administration has set out sweeping new rules, opening up some alternative routes for immigrants while bringing in regulations meant to deter illegal crossings.


Campaigners have already filed a legal challenge to the new asylum restrictions.

TWO FRENCH PRISONERS RELEASED IN IRAN

The French government has confirmed two of its nationals detained in Iran have been released and are headed home.

Benjamin Brière and Bernard Phélan were held for several months on a raft of charges that Iran said included undermining national security and espionage.

UK Economy Grows By Just 0.1%

The UKs GDP increased by just 0.1 percent at the beginning of the year.

The slight growth lagged behind many other major economies according to the data for January to March.

Allies Urged To Support Ukrainian Counter-Offensive

Russia is denying reports of a Ukrainian breakthrough on parts of the front line near the eastern city of Bakhmut.
