UN chief slams progress on SDGs

The United Nations Chief has slammed the world's progress on the
Sustainable Development Goals.

World leaders agreed in 2015 to a broad range of targets to help make
the world a better place.

But a new report shows that just 12 percent of those goals are on track.

UN Secretary General calls Belafonte a "fearless campaigner for civil rights."

The United Nations Secretary-General has extended his condolences to the family of Harry Belafonte who has died at the age of 96.

The singer and actor turned activist was appointed a UNICEF goodwill ambassador in 1987.

Singer and activist Harry Belafonte dies aged 96

American singer, actor and activist Harry Belafonte has died aged 96.


His spokesperson confirmed he died from heart failure at his home in Manhattan.


Belafonte was a major force in the civil rights movement and close confidant of Martin Luther King Junior.

UNSG hopes Russia agrees to extend Grain Deal

The United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres hopes he has
allayed the concerns raised by Russia in relation to the Black Sea
Grain Initiative.
The initiative was put in place to allow for the safe transportation

France closes its embassy and evacuates over 500 people in Sudan

Mass evacuations are continuing in Sudan, as foreign countries move their citizens to safety.


France has confirmed it's evacuated at least 538 people, including 209 of its nationals.

UK BEGINS SUDAN EVACUATION

The UK government has announced a large-scale evacuation operation for British passport holders from Sudan is getting underway.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says priority will initially be given to the most vulnerable - including families with children and the elderly.
