Japan drops masks

The Japanese government is easing COVID guidelines on mask-wearing, in a bid to to normalize daily activities.

But behavioral change is predicted to be slow and many people are likely to continue wearing them.

US government steps in to protect SVB depositors following collapse

People and businesses with accounts at the failed Silicon Valley Bank will be able to access their money following an intervention from the federal government.


The US Treasury, the Federal Reserve and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on Sunday confirmed depositors would be fully protected  following the collapse of what was the country's 16th largest lender — that is until regulators seized its assets on Friday.

US officials say SVB depositors will have access to all their money

The US Treasury and banking regulators say people with deposits in the collapsed Silicon Valley Bank will have access to all of their money starting Monday.

A major lender for the tech sector SVB's shutdown marked the biggest U.S. bank failure in 15 years.

Texas women sued for wrongful death after allegedly helping a friend get an abortion

Three women in Texas are being sued for wrongful death after they allegedly helped a friend get an abortion. The suit has been filed by the woman's ex-husband. It's the first such case since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade last year.

US regulators have taken control of the tech-focused lender Silicon Valley Bank, following a run on deposits.

Hot job market in the United States earns Biden praise, but fuels inflation woes

President Joe Biden insists his economic plan is "working" and the country is "heading in the right direction" after the US posted another strong jobs report. 


The economy added 311,000 jobs in February, according to the Labor Department's closely watched monthly employment snapshot released on Friday.



But that figure represents a relative decline from a blockbuster January report, when a revised 504,000 jobs were added. The unemployment rate has also ticked up slightly to 3.6%.

At least 7 dead in Hamburg Jehovah's Witness attack

At least seven people have died in a shooting in the German city of

TURKEY PUTS A HALT TO RUSSIAN PARALLEL IMPORTS

Turkey has suddenly stopped allowing sanctioned European goods to pass through to Russia, according to multiple Russian logistics companies speaking to Russian media.

Until this week, Ankara had been instrumental, along with Kazakhstan and Belarus, in helping Russians retain access to European goods.

These "parallel import" schemes have so far been largely successful, and have kept costs low.

Nigeria Begins Investigation in Lagos Train Accident Involving 85 Passengers

Authorities in Nigeria's southwest state of Lagos are investigating a train accident which has led to the death of six persons in the state.


79 other passengers involved in the accident have sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention in hospital.

Several killed in Hamburg shooting

Several people have been killed in a shooting in Hamburg.

The shooting happened at a Jehovah's witness meeting hall , and police say the gunman- who they believe acted alone- is most likely dead.
