UK household bills cap could increase by a further $1k a year

The cap on household energy bills in the UK could go up by a further $1k a year according to the country's energy regulator Ofgem.

Last month the cap was increased by around $865.

This latest increase could push millions more people across the country into fuel poverty.

Jonathan Brearley is the CEO of Ofgem and he told MPs that conditions have worsened in the global gas market because of the war in Ukraine.

That, he says, is a key reason for the rising cost of living in the UK.
