Australia – Minister threatened for mandating vaccination

Hong Kong expands COVID-19 hotel quarantine program

The Hong Kong government is expanding the scale of its COVID-19 hotel quarantine facilities for incoming travellers. The government says it's expecting a surge of visitors over Christmas and New Year, despite them being required to quarantine for up to three weeks in a hotel room on arrival.

Record Back-Up at US Ports

The backlog at the two busiest ports in the US has reached another record,

with one hundred ships waiting to enter the California ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

The two ports account for around forty percent of all shipping containers that enter the US.

S and P 500 on 5-day winning streak

The S and P 500 posted its fifth straight day of gains as US markets rallied on the back of more strong third quarter earnings reports.

The positive earnings thus far appear to have eased some investor fears over supply chain disruptions.

Facebook to Pay More than $14 Million

Facebook has agreed to pay more than 14 million dollars to settle civil claims brought by the US government. 

The settlement is over claims Facebook's hiring practices intentionally discriminated against Americans in favor of foreign workers.

Haitian gang demands $17m for release of kidnapped missionaries

A gang which kidnapped 17 missionaries in Haiti is demanding $1m in ransom for each person, according to the Haitian justice minister.


The American and Canadian missionaries were returning from a visit to an orphanage on Saturday when the bus they were travelling in was seized.
