Biden offers "safe haven" to Hong Kong residents in US

US President Joe Biden has signed an order allowing Hong Kong
residents to remain in America, as he accused China of repression.

Biden says the 18 month extension to stay will give Hong Kongers a
"temporary safe haven" from Beijing.

As Raisi inaugurated, White House open to nuclear deal talks

Richard Trumka, America's leading trade union leader, dead at 72

America's most prominent trade union leader, Richard Trumka, has died of a reported heart attack at the age of 72.


He led the AFL-CIO, the largest federation of unions in the United States, for more than a decade.


The organization represents more than 12 million workers in the United States, and Mr. Trumka was a close ally of President Joe Biden.


The news of his death was announced on the floor of the US Senate by Majority Leader Charles Schumer.

Record haul of pangolin scales seized in Nigeria, foreign nationals arrested


Authorities in Nigeria have seized a historic quantity of animal parts including large chunks of pangolin scales and elephant tusks which were on their way to south east Asia.
Three suspects linked with the crime have been arrested.

Australia – Delta outbreak spreads to three states

Health officials have written an open letter to Australians in states with covid outbreaks, urging them to get either the Pfizer or Astra Zeneca vaccines as soon as possible.

Republican Governor of Florida hits back at Biden after Covid-19 criticism

The Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has hit back at the White House after President Biden accused him of standing "in the way" of live-saving measures to deal with Covid-19.

White House rejects WHO call for moratorium on booster shots

The White House is rejecting a call by the World Health Organization for a moratorium on Covid-19  booster vaccinations until more people in the developing world get their first chance to get jabbed.


The WHO says a pause in any planned booster campaigns should be introduced in order to address vaccine global inequities.


But White House press secretary Jen Psaki says the Biden administration disagrees.

Cuomo under criminal investigation following sexual harrassment report

New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo is now under criminal investigation in 4 separate jurisdictions including Manhattan.

British government drops quarantine requirements for travelers returning from France

The British government is removing extra restrictions that it p[laced on returning travelers from France.
