Moscow mayor admits vaccine campaign falling behind

The mayor of Moscow has admitted that Russia's capital has vaccinated fewer people against COVID-19 than any major European city. He said around 9,000 people are seriously ill with the virus in Moscow hospitals. Julia Chapman reports.

China Slams US for Creating Security Risk in South China Sea


China has accused the US of being an "out-and-out security risk creator" after one of its warships sailed through waters near the disputed Spratly Islands.

Biden hails news of MidEast ceasefire, thanks Egypt for helping to broker it

President Biden says the ceasefire agreed between Israel and Hamas was secured after "hour-upon-hour" of intensive diplomacy by the US, Egypt and others.


Speaking at the White House, he vowed to provide fresh equipment to Israel for their "Iron Dome" defense system, but also pledged to provide humanitarian relief for the Gaza Strip.

Ceasefire agreed between Israel and Hamas, takes effect at 23 GMT

A ceasefire appears has been agreed that could bring nearly two weeks of conflict between Israel and Hamas to an end.


The Israeli Security Cabinet approved the move…and a spokesman for Hamas in Gaza has told the news agency reuter's that conflict will end at 2am local time in Israel….that's at  2300 GMT.
