Emmanuel Macron heads bicentennial commemoration of Napoleon's death

The French president will lead commemorations on Wednesday/5th May marking 200 years since Napoleon's death.

Emmanuel Macron will make a speech about the 19th century military leader and emperor.

India-UK a step closer to a Free Trade Agreement; negotiations to begin later in the year

Japan eyeing state of emergency extension

Australia - Prime Minister says ban on flights from India is doing its job

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he's comfortable with the current ban on people travelling into Australia from covid ravaged India.

Hong Kong set to allow resumption of UK arrivals

Hong Kong is set to allow passenger flights to resume from the UK from Friday, ending a four month ban on the route due to COVID-19 concerns. The government says the high vaccination rate in the UK, and stabilizing number of daily virus cases, mean the current restrictions can be eased.

Biden announces plan to get more Americans vaccinated, amid skepticism

US President Joe Biden has announced ambitious fresh targets for vaccinating Americans against the coronavirus, even as vaccination rates slip and persistent new variants take hold.

Experts have warned that the mission to reach “herd immunity” is unrealistic, amid ideological divisions over the value of vaccines.

Mexican President promises full investigation into metro crash that killed at least 23

Mexico's President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he'll launch a full inquiry into last night's deadly accident involving a metro train in Mexico City.

At least 23 people were killed and more than 60 injured after an elevated section of the Mexican capital's most modern metro line collapsed.

Children were among the dead when the carriages plunged from overhead.

France approves wide-ranging climate bill

EU Will Not Observe Ethiopian Elections

The European Union says it will not observe Ethiopia's parliamentary elections slated for June 5th this year.
