EU SUPPORTS NEW US SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIA

The European Union says the US has its full support, after President Joe Biden authorised new sanctions against Russia.

The sanctions come in response to the SolarWinds cyber attack, which the US says was carried out by Russia in December last year.

Europe passes one million deaths from Covid-19

There have now been one million coronavirus deaths in Europe, according to the World Health Organisation who say the situation is still "serious" across the continent. 

Around 1.6million new cases are being reported each week. 

France is expected to pass a death toll of 100,000 deaths from Covid-19 on Thursday.

Kremlin dismisses prospect of Putin-Biden summit

Preparations underway for Prince Philip funeral this weekend

Preparations are continuing for the funeral of Prince Philip, who died last week at the age of 99.

South Sudan’s elections to be postponed to 2023

Parties to South Sudan's 2018 peace agreement have proposed extending the time for elections from 2022 to 2023 according to President Salva Kiir's Spokesperson, Ateny Wek Ateny.

President's Kiir's office says postponement of the elections would give enough time for political parties to prepare and contest for leadership positions in a conducive environment.
