UK PM CHAIRS MEETING ON SAFETY OF WOMEN

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is chairing a taskforce meeting on Monday to discuss ways to make women safer.

It follows criticism of policing of a weekend vigil for a murdered woman.

A number of women were handcuffed and removed from a gathering in Clapham which police say was unlawful because of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

London's Met Police chief Cressida Dick is understood to have the confidence of the Prime Minister.

But Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey is calling for her to quit.
