Farmers' Protest in the Outskirts of Delhi Turns into a Tense Situation

Clashes have broken out at one of the largest protest sites outside of New Delhi where farmers have camped for two months.

Locals reportedly clashed with farmers, asking them to vacate the site. Police used tear gas shells to control the situation and disperse the crowd.

Kidnappers, gunmen abduct 75, kill 18 across Nigeria

Unknown assailants have attacked different parts of Nigeria, allegedly kidnapping at least 75 people and killing 18 others.

50 of the victims were reportedly kidnapped in Niger state while the other abductions occurred in neighbouring states.

Nigeria has been dealing with an increase in insecurity including kidnappings and armed robbery, which has recently prompted some drastic measures from the Presidency to change the top military heads.

UK hails another vaccine announcement; orders tens of millions of doses

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has welcomed the "good news" of a new coronavirus vaccine, which has been shown to be 89.3% effective in UK trials.

The Novavax jab is the first to have proven efficacy against the virus variant found in Britain, and will now be assessed by the UK's medicines regulator.

China to stop recognising British National Overseas passports

China says it will stop recognising British National Overseas passports as travel or identification documents from Sunday. The move coincides with the launch of a new UK visa, allowing Hong Kongers who are eligible for the passports to apply for residency, and potentially full British citizenship.

Germany introducing travel bans to stop Covid-19 variants

NOVAVAX JAB TO BE ASSESSED BY REGULATORS

A new covid-19 vaccine made by Novavax will now be assessed by UK regulators after showing 89% efficacy in major trials in Britain.

The UK's ordered 60 million doses of the jab which will be manufactured in northern England.

Trials showed it to be effective against the so-called 'UK variant' which has been spreading quickly in Britain and a number of other countries.

It was less effective against the variant discovered in South Africa.

But Dr Gregory Glenn, president of research and development at Novavax, says the results are encouraging nonetheless.
