Thousands of pro-Trump supporters gather for DC protests

Thousands of pro-Trump supporters are swarming into the US capital
ahead of a day of demonstrations against the election result.

The protests are to coincide with the meeting of Congress to rubber
stamp Joe Biden's win - something more than a hundred Republican
lawmakers are promising to contest.

UK records over 60k more Covid-19 infections for first time

The UK has recorded more than 60 thousand positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.


The figure is a new daily record and comes as new lockdown measures have been introduced to stem the rapid spread of a new Covid-19 variant.

Venezuela's Maduro Consolidates Power

Venezuela is swearing in a new national assembly, with a majority of its lawmakers loyal to the country's President Nicolas Maduro.

Covid-19 lockdown begins again in parts of UK

People across much of the UK must now stay at home under new coronavirus restrictions, starting Tuesday, following a rapid rise in coronavirus cases.

New York reports first case of highly contagious Covid-19 strain

New York has confirmed its first case of a highly contagious strain of
Covid-19 that was discovered in the United Kingdom. It's now the
fourth U.S. state to do so.

Last month New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo pushed for tougher travel
