Dow hits record high on vaccine news

It was a record close for the Dow Jones on Monday as Wall St rose on
positive Covid-19 vaccine news.

The Moderna test results also helped to push companies that would
benefit from a vaccine higher.

Biden warns Trump's failure to embrace transition is putting lives at risk

US President-elect Joe Biden says President Trump's refusal to accept the outcome of the election is putting American lives at risk.


The President-elect called for immediate talks between his team and the White House in a bid to ensure the effective distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.

UK Prime Minister in isolation after coming into contact with positive Covid case

Boris Johnson -- and six Conservative MPs -- are self-isolating after a meeting inside Downing Street.

 

One of those MPs, Lee Anderson, tested positive for Covid-19. That means the Prime Minister, who's already had coronavirus, was forced into quarantine at the start of what's supposed to be a big week of policy announcements for the government.

Boris Johnson Self Isolating

Senior members of the British government have said the Prime Minister would not be 'in any way hampered' by having to self isolate.


Boris Johnson, 6 MPs and 2 political aides are having to quarantine, after one of them tested positive for Coronavirus a few days after a meeting at Downing Street.

Ghana likely to experience second wave of COVID-19 pandemic

Ghana- which was widely applauded for its response to the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year- is now grappling with a fresh spike in cases.

Russian coronavirus hospitals edge towards full capacity

Hospital beds in Russia's COVID-19 treatment centres are full to 84% of capacity on average, according to the country's health minister. Mikhail Murashko said that number was closer to 90% in more than half of Russia's regions. Julia Chapman has more.

Moldovan presidential candidate, Maya Sandu, has won the race for president, against current leader Igor Dodon.

In the second round of voting, the pro-EU candidate won nearly 58 percent of the vote, while the Kremlin-backed incumbent secured only 42%.

Moldova used to be part of the Soviet Union.

UK BEGINS NEW VACCINE TRIAL

A major covid-19 vaccine trial has launched in the UK.

Thousands of people will be involved in testing the jab from Belgian company Janssen.

It uses a genetically modified cold virus to stimulate the immune system.

The UK is backing several vaccine candidates in the expectation that a number of them will be needed to bring coronavirus under control.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock says the aim remains to be using a Pfizer vaccine within weeks.

Japan’s economy rebounds from record slump

Hong Kong Police investigate city's deadliest fire in almost a decade

Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam is calling for a full investigation, after the city's deadliest fire in almost a decade.

Seven people, including a nine-year-old child, were killed when a fire broke out in a flat on Sunday night. 

Seven more are in a critical condition in hospital.

SpaceX Nasa Dragon Capsule en route to the ISS
