Rate of new coronavirus infection reaches triple figures in Belgium

The number of new coronavirus infections in Belgium has reached triple figures again, amid fears of a second COVID-19 wave within weeks. 

The weekly average of new infections has climbed to nearly 100 per day in the last 7 days.

Islamic State bride should be allowed to return to UK, say judges

Shamima Begum, one of three east London schoolgirls who travelled to Syria to join Islamic State, has won a legal battle to be allowed to return to the UK to challenge the removal of her British citizenship. 


The 20-year-old left the UK in February 2015 and lived under IS rule for more than three years before she was found, nine months pregnant, in a refugee camp in February last year.


The then Home Secretary revoked her British citizenship on national security grounds.

More than a hundred protesters detained in Moscow

In Russia, more than a hundred people were detained after protests in Moscow [on Wednesday] against changes to the constitution. TWITTER INVESTIGATING BITCOIN HACK

Twitter says it's investigating after hackers targeted several high-profile accounts in a cryptocurrency scam.

The profiles - including those of Barack Obama, Bill Gates and Apple - posted a message encouraging users to send money to a Bitcoin address.

The social media website says it was a "co-ordinated social engineering attack".

Technology reporter Will Guyatt says it appears to have been a simple hack in many ways.

Indian Medical Association issues a Red Alert after 99 doctors die due to COVID-19

The Indian Medical Association issued a 'red alert' saying that at least 99 doctors have died due to coronavirus, and more than 1,300 have been infected.

This comes at a time when India's overall number of COVID cases has crossed the 900,000 mark.

US reportedly considering travel restrictions on Chinese Communist Party officials.

The United States is considering imposing a ban on Chinese Communist Party officials and their families traveling to the US, according to a report in the New York Times.


It says the proposal is a draft at this stage but, if implemented, it would be yet another escalation in tensions between Washington and Beijing.

Hackers target Biden and other Twitter accounts in apparent scam

Hackers appeared to take control temporarily of several high profile Twitter accounts, including those belonging to US presidential candidate Joe Biden and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.


The tweets, which have been deleted, asked people to send cryptocurrency to a bitcoin address.
