LONDON MAYOR LAUNCHES 'DIVERSITY REVIEW' OF STATUES

Statues of historical figures with links to slavery could be removed in London as part of a review announced by the capital's mayor.

It comes after a monument to a slave trader was dismanted in the UK city of Bristol during anti-racist protests.

Russia donates $3m to boost the Desert Locust Response in Uganda

Intro;

The Russian Federation has contributed Three Million US dollars ($3million) to Uganda, to boost to the Desert Locust response.

 

The contribution is part of Russia's $10 million donation to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in support of operations to control and fight the Desert Locust invasion in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan.

UK CONSIDERS NEXT LOCK-DOWN EASING

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson hosts a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, under pressure to set out further steps to ease Britain's coronavirus lockdown.

Several of his ministers want the government to relax its social distancing guidelines from 2 metres to 1 metre.

It's thought this could save thousands of jobs in the hospitality sector.

The UK recorded its lowest daily deaths figure on Monday since late March.

Uganda Set To Release 79 Rwandans As Relations Between the Two Countries Improve

Democrats unveil police reform legislation

Democrats in Congress have unveiled legislation to implement widespread reforms of police forces across the US.

More gains on Wall Street following surprise jobs report

The U.S. markets started the trading week in buoyant mood with
investors still reacting to Friday's far better-than-expected jobs
data.

Many economists expected a further nine million jobs to be lost last
month but the unemployment rate actually fell in May.

First Court Appearance for Former Police Officer Accused of George Floyd's Murder

200 arrested and statues defaced in Belgium BLM protests

Thousands took to the streets of Brussels on Sunday for a mass demonstration in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and opposing police brutality against people of colour.

Some 200 people were arrested. 

Belgian health authorities are warning there could be a spike in the rate of COVID19 infection following the demonstration.

Public visitation for George Floyd in Houston while Biden meets his family

Thousands of mourners are expected in the Texas city of Houston to pay their respects to George Floyd, whose death in police custody has sparked protests around the world.


The public will be able to view the 46-year-old's casket on Monday, while Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is expected to meet privately with his family.
